Does the CSR Help?

Government announcements look good for Pulse.

While the devil is in the detail, DECC, which is where our support comes from, has come out pretty well overall. You can see the full press release on the DECC website. My summary for Pulse is:

The Green Investment Bank is getting £1bn funds - this is good news to get it started. Now we need to see what it will do with that money. No use wasting it on things that will get funded anyway, we need to focus on the market failures - see my other blog article on the GIB.

There is £200m for new renewable technologies & dockyard improvements - while much of this will likely go to the windies, there is scope here for some of it to flow to tidal technologies like ours. As for the GIB, we'll have to wait and see for the details.

There is also £1bn to carbon capture and storage. While it is easy to poke fun at this, I think the mature response is to realise that we are going to need something to clean up the coal and gas plants. We can't shut them all down tomorrow. Unfortunately, while the opportunity is huge, so is the cost.

I'm delighted to see a tidal device that looks extremely promising. Anything that will prevent the Highlands of Scotland being trashed by countless windfarms is to be commended.
